I think of a big chunk of fat, like the one Oprah brought on stage in a wagon when she lost a lot of weight back in the 80's. Picture what that fat looks like on your body, yuk, then imagine that when you think of eating something that will put that ugly unhealthy fat on your body.

You make a good point. But for the purposes of his show, the title chosen was probably the clearest and simplest to get the point across. The probably better title, "I can make you weigh less" doesn't have a ring to it.

If he were to write a book using his methods (actually I think he did, but I forgot the name of it) it may make more sense if it were "I can make you healthy".

It looks like you've been walking in step, Nancy. As I was reading this post, the words 'run with the vision' came to mind. I looked them up - they're in Habakkuk 2:2. Maybe it's a little encouragement for you?

"Then the Lord answered me and said:
'Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.'

Your post also reminds me of pastor's message on Sunday where he talked about praying into God's promises to us. You probably don't have time to listen, but just in case you do, it's online here: "Prayer and Fasting" - http://www.clachurch.com/home/index.php?id=78

Actually, Google has a calendar option I use to do just that - block in time slots. If I could only remember to use it every day! :)

I'm enjoying these 'goal' posts (sounds like a soccer game!) partly because a book I read over Christmas got me thinking about goals in a new way. In her book 'Simplify Your Time' Marcia Ramsland talks about setting goals and suggests some interesting ways to go about it. One is to list 15 things that would make you happy if they happened in the next five years. Then divide the next five years into quarters (twenty sections) and divvy up your wish list into those sections (of course the way she describes it sounds much more sophisticated).

Of course one's plan isn't carved in stone as surely life will come along and mess with it. But wouldn't it feel good to see some of the things one really wants to achieve actually blocked into a time on a calendar, even if it is three or four years hence?

Good for you! Doing not-a-lot and then blogging about it is a ton of fun - although it can become its own tyrant.

Nice new home for your blog too. (Although blogger now does have categories too, doesn't it. They're called 'labels' - I think they're basically the same thing.)

Oh Nancy, I so relate! I too, have a sewing machine with things atop, and a little hoard of "pending mending" in a pile on the floor and a skirt in the closet that only needs a quick whirrr of the machine!

You have inspired me to "just do it."

I hope you do write some of those positive articles Nancy. That's a trend worth starting and I would love to read them. I think they'd be a great fit with Oprah's magazine. O seems to have more articles that appeal to the intellect and heart than the average magazine.
